Canadian Government Awards BCIP Contract to Blackline

Diana Winger March 16, 2015

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - March 16, 2015) - The Honourable Deepak Obhrai, Member of Parliament for Calgary East, member of the Privy Council, and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and for International Human Rights, held a press conference this morning at the headquarters of Blackline GPS Corp. (TSX VENTURE:BLN) ("Blackline" or the "Company"). Mr. Obhrai announced a Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP) contract awarded to Blackline from Public Works and Government Services Canada. Under this contract, Correctional Service Canada will work with the Company to deploy and evaluate the Loner Bridge System as a work-alone solution to protect their field personnel.

"Companies like Blackline GPS Corp. from Calgary are the backbone of our local economy," said Mr. Obhrai. "Through the Build in Canada Innovation Program, our government is helping them get their cutting-edge goods and services from the lab into domestic and international markets."

BCIP aims to make Canadian suppliers more competitive and increase their contribution to the economy. Companies considered for this program include those with a focus on: environment, safety and security, health, and enabling technology applications. This program funds the acquisition of products and services by a matched government department to help validate a pre-commercial innovation within a real-world test environment.

"Programs such as BCIP go a long way to support Canadian businesses that compete in the domestic and global marketplace," said Cody Slater, Blackline's CEO and Chairman. "Our Loner Bridge System has considerable opportunity beyond what we've seen from early adopters within the energy, utilities, and construction industries. Validation feedback from Correctional Services Canada will go a long way to ensuring that Blackline serves the needs of a broad cross-section of industries into the future."

The Loner Bridge System was designed in Canada from the ground-up to monitor the safety of employees working in the most remote of locations where access to communications is difficult and risks are heightened. Blackline's broad Loner safety monitoring portfolio empowers organizations in all industries and geographic locations with real-time safety incident awareness to deliver p time within minutes instead of hours or days later. Blackline's technology can make a difference in an employee's outcome by directing an immediate response to the individual's precise location.
