Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine looked at 55 fatal cardiac events among oil and gas extraction workers from 2014 to 2019. Of the 55 workers, 18 (33%) worked alone and 36 (66%) were unwitnessed by a co-worker. Toxicology findings suggested some possible exposures to H2S or hydrocarbon gases or vapors.
